A reception of the Foreign Commissioners of the Chicago World's Fair (also known as the World's Columbian Exposition) at Thomas Bryan's estate, Bryd's Nest, in Elmhurst. The estate was on the south side of St. Charles Road between York Street and Cottage Hill Avenue.

On the back in green ink handwriting reads "from Alben Bates 10/7/67." Typing on a rectangle of paper attached to the back reads "The recent reception of the Foreign Commissioners of the World's Fair at 'Byrd's Nest' was an enjoyable affair...Graphic Magazine - October 19, 1891." There is a purple stamp reading "BROUSE & MARTIN 103 Adams St." on the back. Printed in white in lower front right corner is "Brouse and Martin Photos" "1488" printed in white in lower front left corner.
