Context

The verse is attributed to a Christmas carol describing the Annunciation to the Shepherds, with words attributed to Irish hymnist, lyricist and England's Poet Laureate Nahum Tate, c 1696. Another similar sampler was made in Sudbury, Suffolk, UK, and it is likely that this sampler is also attributed to Sudbury, Suffolk.
