This poster for the Mission Cultural Center’s annual women’s exhibition incorporated a painting by Amilca Mouton-Fuentes, who passed away the previous year. The poster was printed by her father, Juan R. Fuentes, and designed by Adrian Arias of MCC’s design department. Increasing reliance on personal computers made the design department’s hand more prevalent in many Gráfica posters. As a second-generation Mission Cultural Center artist, Mouton-Fuentes had access to resources, inspiration, and support largely unavailable to her father’s generation. Successive generations of artists growing up with similar cultural centers helped build a more diverse creative community in San Francisco.
