Though a member of the Kearney Street Workshop where she could, and often did, print her own work, Nancy Hom nonetheless took advantage of Gráfica’s ability to print large editions of her posters addressing women’s health, immigration, and cultural celebrations.
Hom’s prints exemplify the use of positive imagery in political posters. Many political posters focus on the negative forces that an artist opposes, and feature images of oppression. Instead, Hom portrays women and children of color in ways that powerfully evoke joy and hope.
