California’s LGBTQ+ activists and allies fought against the homophobic Prop 64, which would have required mandatory HIV testing and public reporting. In Silicon Valley, the Bay Area Municipal Elections Committee (BAYMEC) led the charge against this intiative. These objects were used by Ken Yeager, a BAYMEC co-founder and the first openly gay elected official in Santa Clara County.
