Science and scientific research in California push the learning envelope. World renowned universities and research facilities are at the forefront of many new discoveries. This quilt was created in a collaboration between artists and UCSC PhD physics candidates (2018-2019). It was inspired by experiments done in Large Hadron Colliders. When subatomic particles are smashed together, predictable patterns and colors are created. This facilitates the study of dark matter in the universe.
