This work is part of a series of quilts depicting native flora and fauna of the Northern California region. It is a stylistic interpretation of the Valley Oak tree (Quercus Lobata) as seen from below. The artist's personal photographs helped inform the shape of the images for the work.Label Type
Technique or ProcessLabel
Mono relief print and hand stamped with fluid acrylic paints on background silk fabric. Silk habotai and silk organza were hand-painted and sponged for leaf overlays. Machine appliqued and machine quilted.
Silk background, polyester inner layer, and cotton backing. Painted polyester fiber for the tree trunk and limbs. Rayon, polyester, silk and cotton threads.
