Description

Joseph & Luvina Plymate moved their family to Fairland in 1873 to open a harness making business. Three generations of the Plymate family operated the business which included harness, post office, millinery, stoves, and hardware as the business evolved over the years. The store and house would be 201 & 203 W Washington St in Fairland, Indiana (as of 2025, the Grace Community Church parking lot). The Methodist church is shown at the right in the exterior photos.
