Note

Samuel "Sam" Newton (1948 - ) Atlantic Sunrise Oil on Upson Board circa the late 1960s Image size 24" X 48" From the beginning of his painting career, Sam Newton focused on creating high-quality artworks, following in his brother's footsteps. Sam has taken great pride in producing exceptional pieces throughout his long and illustrious career. Unlike other highwaymen, he is known for painting at a slower pace. His artworks are distinguished by their high level of detail and his remarkable skill in mixing colors. Sam has devoted significant attention to Florida's environment, and his work reflects his extensive knowledge of the land, skies, and waterways. This earlier work by Sam Newton showcases his artistic skills and realistic rendering of the Atlantic surf as it crashes on a sandy beach. Today, his paintings are much smaller in size, typically measuring 16" x 20" or 20" x 24", and he rarely paints in the size of 24" x 36". In the past, however, these "sofa-sized" paintings were quite popular and in vogue. Sam Newton's subtle treatment of color at dawn, as it breaks over the Atlantic, is sublime, reflecting his exceptional abilities as an artist.
