Note

Harold Newton (1934-1994) Distant Palms Oil on Masonite Circa 1990s Image size 12" X 10" A rare miniature painting by Harold Newton from later in his career. Much of the detail in this work is achieved with brushwork, showcasing his skill for capturing the mood and the subtleties of light and color as they transition throughout the day. Other group members respected Harold Newton for his ability to create work efficiently. He was adept at depicting Florida's changing lighting conditions and expansive skies. This work by Newton is displayed above another piece from early in his career, likely painted in the late 1950s or early 1960s. While his style evolved over the years, his talent remained consistent, offering an interesting glimpse into his artistic development.
