Description

The Clovis point type is typically triangular and fluted with a concave base. The flute typically runs from the base on one or both sides and can cover up to 1/3 of the size of the point. The Clovis is made through percussion flaking with pressure flaking to finish the blade. The Clovis point was first identified near Clovis New Mexico in 1935 and long thought to be the first lithic technology in North America.
