This mail sorter, which dates to the late 1800’s, was used at the Florence Post Office while Felix G. Lambeth served as postmaster between 1899 and 1901. Lambeth lived in the building that is now known as Pope’s Tavern from 1874 until his death in 1927. The home, known as the Lambeth Home, stayed in the family until 1965 when it was purchased by the City of Florence. The mail sorter was donated to Pope’s Tavern in 1991.
