Context

Charles B. Hendrix was drafted from University of Tennessee Nov. 18, 1943. After training he served as Machinist Mate aboard the USS Cambria, APA 36 in the invasion of Okinawa and the occupation of Japan in Nagasaki. Hendrix was discharged upon decommissioning of the ship in Charleston, SC. (Donated by Charles B. Hendrix 8/20/1999)
