This is called the Nellus Hay Harpoon of American origin. This goes back to the days pre pressing hay where the stacks were fought together. They weathered heavily on the outside. This tool was made to spear into the haystack, pull the trigger, the wings came out and pulled the sample out from the inner part of the stack to see what the quality was like. You would never wear this out heavily built.Collection
