This is a flenching tool from the whale industry. These were used by running a cut strip, to roughly the width of the blade down the body of the whale. These were held by 2 men. 1 on either handle that ran was splayed under the skin to get the skin away from the blubber of the whale. This pair, are from the Australian Whale Industry which is now gone. A relic of the whale industry time.Collection
