This is a horse's shoe that's been covered in tar, the reason being when they worked in munition stores or fuel dumps, They had to completely obliterate any chance of sparks, hence, the shoes were covered in tar. Also, in Melbourne, when tram lines came in, quite a lot of the horses up and down the tram tracks wore these type of shoes. Today, very rareCollection
