Springer RopeEntry/Object ID
5495Description
This is called a Springer. This was for catching Murray Cod. The rope was tied around a tree. The line that went into the water was attached to a short section of bicycle rubber tube. Sometimes a bell was attached to the rope that went to the tree. During the night, if a fish became attached, the bell would ring and the, elasticity on the rubber tube would wear the fish out eventually. These would not be permitted under today's, laws of fishing. This one was given to us by Tom Reedy at Baringa.Collection
