This is a glass plunger which fitted on the top of a preserving jar. This pushed the fruit down to a level to make sure that the, fruit was down to a level. It's called the perfect closing jar. So your fruit's below the level of the fluid? The fruit is always below the level at the bottom of this plunger. A very early piece in good condition.Collection
