These tools were made largely in Melbourne during the period after the gold rush when the Chinese started making furniture in Melbourne and elsewhere.
Several of the Chinese set themselves up as traditional Chinese tool craftsmen to make the tools so they were familiar with the furniture builders. Largely made out of ironbark and all Australian woods, these are hard to find, very interesting, and very collectible.
