This is a wonderful, early tool used in the early days of fire lighting. It's known as a Preston Spiral spool. The blade in the centre of the channel is on an angle. When you run a piece of wood through, it creates spirals which are bunched together for easy wire lighting. A very rare and hard tool to find.Collection
