. This piece is called a hastener, standing on 4 legs. It has a fireplace jack, attached to it with the rotating wheel that goes one way then the other. These were made out of tinware and situated in the front of an open fire. They date back to pre cast iron stoves. Quite a rare item and this one is fully equipped and functional. Value Clockwork? The clockwork jack is a part of it which is in working order, with the wheel and the hookers for the meat for roasting. What's the jack do when it's running? It rotates both ways.
