This is, ceramic pottery. This is a very large heavy chimney pot, done by George Marks Ballarat Pottery. No stamping. He didn't stamp anything, but very identifiable by the extraordinarily heavy build of everything he made and the excessive use of salt in the glaze. A marvellous early piece before Marks left and went to South Australia to open up Ballarat Pottery. Ballarat. Marks went to South Australia and open opened up Adelaide Pottery, South Australia. Correction. It was not Ballarat Pottery South Australia. The Ballarat Pottery was in Ballarat.Collection
