Description

This handpiece is a Smoko from Newell Brothers London. DGM (A19),1898.This particular one has been manufactured in Sweden. Why it was made in sweden is unknown. It is cast iron of a wax casting type. This is a smaller model than the more commonly known Smoko. This is the only one that I have seen in any collection in Australia. This has an adjustable tension. The tension nut is operated by a locking lever on the top of the shea; when the lever is bought round at right angles to the shear it can engage the notches in the tension nut and act as a spanner.
