This handpiece is one of the rarest in the Dangar collection. DG&M (A14). This was designed by Richard Dangar Dixon. Called the Brewarrina. It's a very early, experimental type design. Unique in its body. Full brass, totally different to anything else. This has an original 7 tooth comb with it and a solid 1 piece cutter which only cut in one direction. The tension was located over the central pivot of the fork lever. To adjust the tension nut the front end of the shear lid, was hinged separately in order to lubricate the crank roller. This equipment was exhibited at the Sydney show in 1890, the steel rope drive was covered by a sheath of cotton reels and subsequently it easily tangled with the fleece.
The "Dickinson" as it was known for many years however but that was found to be incorrect. It was built by Richard Dangar Dixon of Brewarrina in New South Wales. A prototype, extremely rare and all complete quite a complex design.
