Description

An exceptionally rare model from the Dangar collection. This one is known as the Empyream. 1880's. This is completely unique because it works on a spring loaded, back joint that provides the motion for the common cutter in the front. It was operated by a string that was attached to a post and each time the handpiece was used, a blow made, the thing had to reload on the on the return side for the next blow to be made. DG&M (A25) The Emprium. Was also known as the McLeod in the 1890's in Australia and was a copy of the Barnes handpiece from England, Very unusual, of alloy body construction. This has a 9 tooth cutter which is the original one. This was driven from a spring set up in the back and each stroke you did cut the mechanism worked and then it rewound when you put your hand back for the next blow. Very scarce, unusual, probably not a successful one.
