Description

‘JJ’ model folding pump organ Manufactured by Estey Organ Co. in 1906 - Serial No. 350760 Functions though not well - right bellow needs repair Currently unable to fold - reinforcing pieces of wood need to be removed

Context

Donated by Ray Johnson of Portage la Prairie. He inherited the organ from his mother, who had obtained it from the Anglican Church in Kitimat, British Columbia. According to the donor, the organ was known in the church as the ‘canoe organ’, as it had been brought to the area by missionaries when canoe was the only means of transportation. This story is impossible to verify and is dubious considering the age of the organ.
