Necklace associated with Catherine McLeod Mounts. The necklace is 36 inches in total length, and alternates glass beads with small, slender dentalium shells. There are large transparent blue beads against every dentalia section. Between the large transparent blue bead alternate smaller pale blue translucent and smaller red transparent beads. The dentalia sections each have 3 shells grouped next to each other, except for one section that only has once piece. The beads and dentalia are strung on a thick white thread three strands wide. Dentalium shells were a highly prized decoration, and at times were used as currency among Native American tribes along the West Coast of North America.
