Description

Hand-wrought iron knife, with twisted, corkscrew handle, handle ending in a fiddle-head loop. Very small "HB" stamped into handle at loop end. Some rust on the handle, and on the tip of the loop. The blade is not very sharp, and the tip is somewhat blunted. The corkscrew twists on the handle are not as even as they are on the matching spoon, with the twists getting smaller towards the blade. The "HB" stamp is much clearer on the knife than on the spoon. The blade is similar in shape to that of the typical "scalper" knives traded by the HBC and other fur trade companies. Measures 7 3/4 inches long, 5/8 inches wide at blade, and appears to be made of iron stock approximately 5/16 inches thick (slightly thicker than the spoon).
