Small green book, signed by Dr. Tolmie. On the embossed cover, gold letters read "Chambers's Educational Course. British History, 2/6". Spine reads " History of the British Empire" in gold lettering. Title page reads "Chambers's Education Course- Edited by W. and R. Chambers. History and Present State of the British Empire, fifth edition." Published by William and Robert Chambers in Edinburgh, 1840. In the upper right hand corner of the title page is the inscription, "William Fraser Tolmie, 1842." Opposite the title page is a map of the British Islands, including Ireland. The book is 273 pages in length, and has one or two illustrations. It is in fair condition, but the spine is very ragged and peeling away in places, and the corners of the cover are well worn. There are some damaged spots on the front cover, as well as ink stains on the back cover. Inside pages are clean and in good condition, however. Measures 6 3/4 inches tall, 4 1/4 inches deep, and 3/4 inches wide.Dimensions
