19th century "cannonball" bedstead, named for the round knobs that top the four corner posts. Came over the Oregon Trail with family, according to donor, possibly made as early as 1810. The four bedposts are 47 1/2 inches tall, and the bedframe is 21 7/8 inches from the ground. The bed itself measures 79 inches by 53 inches. The bedknobs are also known as "lemon finials" for their elongated shape.Dimensions
