Description

A "banded" mochaware or yellow-ware mug, named because of its coloring: yellow with white or brown bands. This mug has one wide white band near the top with four smaller brown bands below it. The mug measures 4 7/8 inches in diameter across mouth opening, and 4 3/4 inches tall. This style of mug was very common among clerks and the laboring class and were used primarily for malt beverages, but very few have survived undamaged. This mug and it's partner were reportedly owned and used by Edward Huggins and his family during their time at Fort Nisqually. (Authenticated by FOVA curator D. Hansen 09/22/1985)
