Small powder horn with crude engraving of an eagle, with "EK" above and "1846" below. Wooden plug intact, end incised for leather thong strap. Wooden stop in butt of horn nailed into place with four nails. Measures 6 inches along the outer curve, or 5 3/4 inches straight end to end. Butt end measures 1 1/2 inches tall and 1 3/4 inches wide. Plug end measures 1/2 inches wide. A horn like this was made to hold gunpowder, although cows horns have also been used to hold things such as sugar and salt due to their waterproof nature.Inscription/Signature/Marks
