Description

Single drawknife with wooden handles. "Hartford" is stamped into the metal just above the blade. Measures 16 3/4 inches wide from the outer edge of one handle to the outer edge of the other handle. Handles are 5 inches long, with an additional 3/4 inch from the metal that forms the blade. The blade itself is 1 1/4 inch wide top to bottom, and a little more than 10 inches long from end to end. Drawknives were used to remove large slices of wood or shavings by drawing the blade toward the user over the piece of wood which was held in place, often by a shaving horse.
