Wooden sea chest from the HBC steamship SS BEAVER. The chest was made from rough cut wood, but at some point it was painted green and antiqued. The interior is unpainted. Two iron hinges, leather handle on each side, and lock and latch all intact. Iron bands at the corners and sides with brass plated knobs keep the chest together, there are three iron braces on each corner, bands going down sides (front and back), and around rim. Measures 17 3/4 inches long, 22 1/2 inches wide, and 19 inches tall. It was passed down through the descendants of Edward Huggins, clerk and manager at Fort Nisqually.Dimensions
