Wheeler and Wilson sewing machine, 1852 model. Machine has 2 drawers, a case covering the sewing machine attached to the base, and inoperative foot pedals. One of the two drawers has a partially broken track, open with care. Serial number: 602259. The sewing machine was used in the Factor's House by the Huggins family during their time at the Fort, 1859-1906. Edward Huggins purchased this sewing machine from Charles Prosch of Steilacoom, publisher of the "Puget Sound Herald", according to a receipt dated May 15th, 1862, found near the end of Roll #1 of the microfilm "Nisqually Papers". This sewing machine measures 29 inches tall to top of sewing table, and 35 3/4 inches tall including cover. Table is 25 1/2 inches wide across the front, and 20 1/4 inches along the side. The foot pedal measures 11 1/4 inches long.Dimensions
