Description

A man's formal vest. Fabric is dark green velvet with light green and light brown stripes, angled to form a "v" shape across the front of the vest. Double-breasted style, all ten fabric-covered buttons are present. with three pockets total, one on each side at the waist and then one up near the arm hole on the left side. The vest is lined with a light brown fabric. According to donor, the item was worn by a Gideon Stiles on the occasion of his wedding, c.1860. The vest measures 22 1/4 inches long and 18 1/4 inches wide across the middle.
