18th-c. children's backstool with an embroidered textile back depicting St. Sebastian. St. Sebastian is tied to a pillar, and there are emblems of a tower, a large tulip, and a shield. This backstool is one of two English or Belgian chairs. The embroidered figures and decorations on the backs are earlier, perhaps 17th century and have been re-applied in more than one re-covering effort.
