1989.1.1Description
This architectural model is made of wood and painted white. It has a removable dome and is wired with a small electric bulb to illuminate the figure of Thomas Jefferson, carved in wood and painted in bronze, standing under the dome. The model has twenty-six columns in a circle near the periphery, and sixteen others grouped into four groups of four near the center. There are twelve other columns in the front. The model had been at the Hagley Museum and Library, accession number Li.96.1. The model was restored by Ebenezer Kotei in 1996. An engineering drawing was made by the Hagley, in case the model needs to be reproduced. The conservation report is on file at SJU.
