This presbyteral cross was probably a gift to a prelate at ordination or a significant ministerial anniversary. The reverse is lettered in Old Church Slavonic and translates as “Set those who believe an example: in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity” from scripture’s First Letter to Timothy, ch. 4, vs. 12-13. The cross is dated December 12, 1896 on the reverse and includes the Russian royal crown and monogram of Tsar Nicholas II.
