Description

Villinski–a contemporary sculptor based in New York–created Celtic and Never using decommissioned firearms from the New Orleans Police Department. In Celtic, Villinski fashioned guns into the shape of a large cross, conflating the Christian icon–which became appropriated in the 20th c. as an emblem of what the artist referred to as “white nationalism, white supremacy, neo-Nazism, and white pride”–with American mass shootings.
