A 20th-c. diorama showing Mohicans, a Native American tribe who originally lived in the Hudson River Valley, building wigwams or dwellings. The diorama consists of a wood box with a glass front and a glass top. The top is covered by a wood lid that can be propped open to allow light to pass through. This diorama was created for the Pennsylvania Museum Extension Project, a Works Progress Administration (WPA) project, which sought to produce art and objects that could be used to educate school children throughout the country.Artwork Details
