This sculpture is of St. Sebastian, a martyred saint who died in a hail of arrows. He is traditionally shown tied to a tree and with many arrows coming out of his body. The artist has indicated the tree which one can see through the legs of the saint. The copious wounds on his body show the arrow’s damage. The saint stands rather stiffly with one arm raised behind his head and the other in front of his chest. His loins are draped in a carved cloth.
