Description

18th c. Child’s Backstool with Embroidered Textile Back depicting St. Barbara. St. Barbara holding a cross (8”h), with a tower, a large tulip (5 ½”h), and a shield as emblems. One of two English or possibly Belgian chairs. The embroidered figures and decorations on the backs are earlier, perhaps 17th century, and have been re-applied in more than one re-covering effort. Wood type is unknown.
