20th-c. mosaic made of United States postage stamps mounted on plywood. Schirmann's work was inspired by a glass mosaic of the 12th Station of the Cross by Elsa Schmid that appeared in the Fall 1931 issue of Liturgical Arts magazine. He executed the work while studying Theology at Woodstock College, and it took 16 months to complete. Schirmann was ordained in 1937.Artwork Details
