19th century Sculpture of the Immaculate Conception - Guatemala
This carving of a Holy Virgin stands simply with her over-large hands pressed together in prayer. Resting on her feet is a crescent moon. Tucked under one arm is a small bundle, perhaps husks of corn. She wears a red robe and a blue flowered gown. Her hair is long and black, carved to fall down around her shoulders.
