Label
The Presentation of the Christ Child is an episode from the Life of Christ celebrated forty days after his birth. According to the gospel of Luke, Joseph and Mary presented Jesus to the High Priest to obtain redemption of the firstborn and complete Mary’s ritual purification. A radiating halo emphasizes Christ’s divinity and redemption. Mary kneels in prayer, while Joseph stands humbly behind her. The acolyte to the right invites us to join him as witnesses to this holy event. The large candle he holds refers to the Feast of Candlemas that celebrates this day.
La Presentación del Niño Jesús es un episodio de la vida de Jesús que se celebra cuarenta días después de su nacimiento. En el evangelio de Lucas, José y María le presentan a Jesús al sumo sacerdote para conseguir la redención del primogénito y completar el ritual de purificación de María. Un halo brillante resalta la divinidad y poder redentor de Cristo. María se arrodilla en oración mientras José se sitúa detrás de ella en posición reverente. A la derecha, un acólito nos invita a ser partícipes de este hecho sagrado. El cirio que sostiene hace referencia a la Festividad de la Candelaria que se celebra ese día.
