This is a black and white image of a middle-aged man. He has salt-and-pepper hair and beard and poses in front of a plain, light-colored backdrop. The man is wearing a military-style coat with six parallel rows of buttons distributed in two lines along the chest. He looks slightly to the right of the camera. On the top half of the back side of the image, there is handwritten information: "Photo. Presented by Bro. Charles A Carmichael of this Lodge, a great grandson of Wor. Bro. George F. Carmichael: Since most of the Lodge's records were destroyed in the Civil War there is little we have in the way of words as to who were the masters of our Lodge prior to 1865. Wor. Albert W Campbell April 28, 1965". On the bottom, in the middle of the back, there is a stamp that reads, "Judson Smith Studio in Fredericksburg, VA" Next to the stamp, there is another handwritten note that this photo is a copy from Oct. 9, 1964.
