2020.1.40Description
This black-and-white, head-and-shoulders portrait shows a middle-aged man with dark, closely cropped hair and round, half-framed glasses. He wears a black suit jacket with a white collared shirt and dark bowtie. A curtain-like backdrop is behind him. On the reverse of the image, there are two inscriptions. The first is a stamped date reading "1960 28 DEC." It appears that it has been made with red ink and is located slightly left to the center of the print. It is not horizontal, but rather near-vertical at a diagonal angle, with the word "DEC" being closer to the top left corner and the phrase "1960" being closer to the bottom right corner. The second inscription is in black ink and handwritten cursive. It reads "TJ Higgins Jr." on the first line, and below that is the phrase "Photo by Morton Wiskler." It is located close to the bottom right corner of the print and is written at a slight angle tilting upward towards the top of the print. There is also old adhesive residue around the edges of the print on the back. Both inscriptions are within this border of adhesive residue.
