Note

In a plastic eyewear envelope along with a note that says “This intrigues us”, Dr. Hiatt mailed the unknown fossil to John Ostrom and Richard Estes for identification. Dated 1967, the note with a couple question marks says dermal ossification. Richard Estes added his own note and “tongue in cheek’ says “Maybe it’s a fossil wart!” Who knows? (Probably in dinosaur skin). Read more about the paleontologists John Ostrom and Richard Estes in the book series, Greg and Doc, Two souls Surrounded by Badlands. This “Dino wart” was mailed to John Ostrum for identification on November 22, 1966.
