This vertebra was a few feet from the sandstone encased jawbone, with only the spine stubs exposed. In the process of chiseling the clay away from the fossil to expose it enough on the cliff wall to excavate it, I hit the end of a perfect humorous with a pick. It took days to excavate both. In the end I removed what I could of the jawbone encased sandstone. In the process our carrying it out over the butte I stepped in a hole while cradling it in my arms and fell flat on my face on top of the jaw. One of the hadrosaur teeth punctured my lower lip. So, I can say In all probability I am the only human on earth that has been bit by a hadrosaur.
